I’m Barbara Church, I received a Master of Social Work from Arizona State University. As a social worker I worked with clients in various life stages ranging from birth to end of life and people facing a variety of challenges including addictions and domestic violence. After witnessing the gentle but powerful healing of Reiki, I became a certified Usui Reiki Master Teacher & a Karuna Reiki® Master Teacher.

I have a special interest in neuroscience, and the role Reiki plays in integrating complementary, alternative and conventional therapies to achieve optimal health. I’m dedicated to teaching Reiki and I enjoy assisting others in discovering how it can help them to heal mind, body and spirit.

Over the last few years I’ve been asked what I do. I’ve finally came up with the simple & short answer, I help people feel good! Why? Because I'm passionate about helping others maintain or restore themselves to a state of well-being & calm.

Research continues to show us that being in a state of well-being, as opposed to stressed, helps to strengthen the immune system. Reiki helps us become an involved member of our health care team. It doesn’t replace medical or psychological treatments but it does support and complement other treatments and enables us to actively participate in our own heath care.

Yes, I provide individual Reiki sessions in the Flagstaff area. The fee for an individual session is $60 an hour. I offer multi-session packages that provide great discounts for sessions purchased in advance. I teach Usui & Karuna Reiki® classes as well as “Reiki Kids." I also provide contemplative Reiki meditations. Most of my classes are taught with my co-teacher, Kelly Burkhart. Because we firmly believe in the importance of continued support for students & the importance of a strong, cooperative & collaborative Reiki community, we offer ongoing learning & social activities for our students. Reiki Kids? Just think how you would have benefited as a child if someone provided you with the knowledge & understanding of the energy that flows into & around us. Kids love Reiki & I love teaching children about the subtle energy called Reiki.

This year, with the help of my Reiki friends & associates, I've added new Reiki Energy Wellness Days & Energy Spa Days. Back to community, collaboration & cooperation, I believe quality health care should be available for everyone. To do my part, I offer two free community Reiki shares a month. The shares are made possible with the help of other Reiki practitioners & master teachers & our friends at Simpatico Renewal & Healing Arts Center. Simpatico provides their space for an evening share (one Thursday a month from 6-8 p.m.) The other share is scheduled for a weekend afternoon at 318 W. Birch, 2-B. I also collaborate with other local Reiki professionals to provide free Reiki services for cancer patients, their family members & caregivers through Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare in Flagstaff, Arizona. Throughout my life I have known and loved many family members & friends who served in the armed forces, especially, the love of my life, my husband, a USMC Vietnam Veteran & one of our “kids," a U.S. Army Pilot & Iraq Veteran with 13 years of military service.
