A Hard Way to Learn Empathy - Judgment!

A Hard Way to Learn Empathy - Judgment!
Today reminded me, I have never met a non judgmental person, ever.  I’ve met many who think they are not. Hate to admit it, but I know how easily I can fall into the same state.  I have met many people who strive for wisdom & acceptance.  But I have not met a truly non judgmental person.  Life has taught me judgments are slippery slopes & often lead us down a path of “unexpected opportunities” to gain empathy.  Call me silly but I'd really rather not keep signing up for life lessons that involve personal heartbreak or loss to gain a credit in insight, humanity or kindness, all because I cannot reach inside myself for understanding.  So, I've accepted I do best when I stop focusing on other people, their actions & reactions & polish my own glass for a stronger light & love to flow into & through – it’s a challenging daily practice & some days I flunk.  Still polishing while dancing the Cha Cha. ♥

Running Low On Daily Glass Cleaner?

I'm lucky my sister's a life coach.  Yesterday, when I was grumbling about the smudges on my light house glass, my sister Kelly, the life coach,  gave me words of wisdom she called "Windex" for my daily light house chores. This morning I opened my inbox and found Martha Beck had also sent me Windex.
“Once you truly intend to accomplish something, the success you can achieve is greater than you can imagine.”—Martha Beck
Thanks for the reminders Kelly & Martha. Wax on…

Still thinking of Karate Kid & polishing the glass

I’m still standing, sleeves rolled up, cloth in hand and polishing the glass….
Wax on… wax off… wax on… wax off..

Honestly, at the beginning, part of me did think it was just a weekend class.  Then I fell in love with the awe and the wonder of the healing Reiki energy.  It didn’t take much for me to decide I wanted to become more devoted to the Reiki way.  “After all,” I asked myself, “how hard can it be?”

Okay, now I have to admit that having visions of walking a spiritual path is much easier that actually suiting up, showing up and walking a daily spiritual path.
Wax on… wax off… wax on….
My mind wanders back to Karate Kid and his days of endless waxing and painting.  Tired of the daily mundane self discipline routine I blurt with the defiance of a 15 year old, “But Karate Kid got to do that great crane pose forever etched against that glorious sunset.  Then he got to use that cool move to knock out his nemesis.  He scored one for justice and fairness.”  I’ve stopped waxing.
“And, now he’s gliding all over Dances with the Stars.
I just saw him gracefully nailing his Foxtrot last night.”
Silence….
After a very long pause the guides asks, “Do you want your money back?”

Wax on… wax off… wax on… wax off…
“Hey Buttercup,” the guide whispers, “you missed a spot.”
With the exasperation of a 10 year old I sigh and rub at the corner of the massive lighthouse window.  Then I stand back and look for another smudge because I know that when the light bursts through at some unexpected moment, like Reiki often does, I will embrace it with the wonder and awe of an innocent 3 year old.
Wax on… wax off… wax on… wax off….
Still polishing the glass but now I add a little Cha-Cha step.
Wax on.. wax off.. Cha-Cha...
Blessings~

On a path we find the Reiki way...

The guide asks,
"Did you really think it was just a
weekend class?" and
I continue to wax on...
wax off... wax on... wax off....
polishing the glass
and thinking...
I'd rather be fishing.... But, practice
worked for the Karate Kid. ♥
So I continue... wax on.... wax off.. polishing the lighthouse glass
with Light & Love~

Gratitude

(original post 3/17/11 re-posted 5/5/11)
In remembrance of their bravery and losses on 9/11, let's take time this week to focus on the "helpers" and say thank you to fire fighters & first responders.
Every time we see the  images of the current world events,  we are once again reminded of the courage and selfless acts of love of emergency personnel.  Those who place themselves in harms way every time they walk into a crisis to help others in need.  Often unappreciated until it is their hand reaching out for us or our loved one.  Those we've come to know as first responders,  the firemen, law enforcement, medics, military, search & rescue, national guard, nurses & doctors, all the men and women who act with great courage in times of crisis.  Men & women like the 50 brave souls left behind this week to face one of humanities greatest fears.    Our gratitude and deep respect for all the first responders around the world.  Blessings to these angels without wings, men and women who hold our hope in their hands, those who accept the cost to themselves while being the light in the darkness, the ones who step forward to be a lifeline in every sense of the word.
We hold you in our thoughts & prayers~
with our deepest respect, light & love,
Barbara & Kelly
